Apprenticeship Standards

A new way of working for a brighter future!

The Government is committed to positively changing what an apprenticeship is and how it supports employers. Over the next three years, we will see apprenticeship frameworks slowly transform to apprenticeship standards which will look and feel quite different. These brand new qualifications have been designed by employers in a wide number of sectors so we believe that apprenticeship standards are an exciting opportunity and we are embracing the change.

So what is an apprenticeship standard?

In summary apprenticeship standards are:

  • A tailored development plan involving employees showing their knowledge and experience over a period of time.
  • A programme that cumulates in an independent appraisal of the employee’s competence.
  • Delivered on a negotiated basis with employers meaning that we are free to build apprenticeship standards programs in a way not seen before in the sector.

The development of apprenticeship standards is so new that not all frameworks have a replacement apprenticeship standard as of yet so we will be communicating developments as they appear. If you are an employer interested in understanding which apprenticeship standards are already developed or are being developed, please follow this link. If you can’t see what you are looking for then please contact us.

Here at GP Strategies Training Limited (GPSTL), we have dedicated teams working on this transition project ensuring that we are at the cutting edge of the reforms. If you are already working with us and want to know what we are developing and how we can manage the transition, please contact us.
